Moms, Kimbra and Some More Humility (AKA The Random Bits)

Ok first up Moms, specifically D Moms...

I mentioned a new mom related work project in this week's Loving list, and I thought I'd give you guys a little more info about it, as I have to say, it is without a doubt the coolest, most exciting thing I've ever worked on. It's a new bi-annual magazine that D is launching in October, and, wait for it...I'm the executive editor.

Suffice to say things are a bit nuts of late, as I'm also (still) the market editor for D Home, and then there's this space, and well you know the whole being a mom (and wife) myself. But I think the end product will be more than worth the crazy, as it is literally my dream magazine -- a publication that celebrates all the different facets (creative, maternal, professional, romantic) of being a mom (and a woman), designed to inspire moms to live the best version of their lives.

I've created a little "moms" pinterest board that I think captures the essence of what we're going for + I'm blogging in advance of the magazine's launch here (just in case you want to take a peek).

Ok and since we're on the topics of moms, how about some more parade related mama humility for your reading pleasure. (I promise I won't beat this parade thing to death, but this one is too good not to share.)

Last night Millie and I were hanging out, watching Kimbra videos on the You Tube and playing store (her new favorite game), when completely and totally out of the blue, she looked up and exclaimed,

"Can. you. believe. I. was. in. a. parade??!!"

And then to further drive her point home (as if that wasn't enough to make me feel like a total dog):

"MOMMY! You were in a parade too...I mean can you believe it?!"

I am sensing lots of parades in our future...Just saying'.

Ok last but not least those aforementioned Kimbra (she of the scorned ex-girlfriend cameo on that Gotye song that the girlies listen to ad nauseum) videos... We have become mildly obsessed with her at the case de Taylor. The girl boasts some serious pipes.

Evidence in those two videos above. Give them a watch, I'll wait...

Good stuff, yes?

Have a splendid weekend friends.

i never knew who this girl was until we went to a foster the people concert a few months ago! she was an opener and blew us away. needless to say she gave us enough of a concert that we didn't even stay for the main act haha.

First, congrats on your gig...I am sure it will be stunning. Can't wait to see it. As for Kimbra, absolutely love that song by Gotye but thought it was Sting...no one has made that comparison. The girl in that song is Kimbra...thanks for the connection. She is coming to Chicago in OCT..will have to get tics.
Enjoy your weekend.
