Making Me (Really) Happy... (in no particular order)

The giant bag of grapefruits I bought at the Whole Foods for $6.99... resulting in the luxury of getting to enjoy a (crazy sweet/delicious) grapefruit every. single. day. for the past week and a half. Good stuff.

The two lovely, thoughtful, smart "magazines" that arrived in my mailbox this week: the 3191 Winter Quarterly and the new Anthology. Man I love print...
Lindt dark chocolate with sea salt. Addicted. It's a bad scene.
image via this tumblr (which, I have to say, sports a pretty hilarious name) The fact that both girlies told us excitedly over dinner last night that it was Theodor Gisel's birthday today...That they knew that fact and they knew that Dr. Seuss' real name was Theodor Gisel made Bryan and me immensely happy to say the least...
The salad bowl that Bryan's mom bought me for Christmas (that glass number above). I use it all the time, and I have to say it is a perfect salad bowl...it's just the right size for a big salad, and it's wide so all the good bits (like the cheese and the nuts) don't all sink to the bottom.
The musical stylings of Cake (the girlies are obsessed...they especially love the horns and the clever lyrics). But specifically the musical stylings of Cake playing on our iPad in the kitchen. Music in the kitchen is a total game changer.

The fact that my sister Jennifer and her sweet baby Josie are flying in tonight from California for a visit. This one is making me happiest at all, so I suppose there was a bit of an order to this after all. What's making you happy today?

Oh, yummy babies to chew on. I'm so jealous. What fun to be an auntie.

And I love that the beautiful salad bowl in on disply. It does look like a piece of art.

This is what made me happy this morning: I've been drinking Yogi Tea's Pomegranate Green Tea lately, and the message on the tea bag was so sweet today: Whatever you are doing is the most beautiful thing.

don't feel too bad about the dark chocolate...it's way healthier than milk chocolate!

i've been quite addicted to grapefruits myself, but in juice form. the "simply grapefruit" juice is so refreshing!

what's making me happy today? leftover pizza for lunch! and the promise of a great weekend!

mm i'm with you on that sea salt chocolate.

my two yr old loves to help cook (read: scoop coffee grinds and stand on a stepstool which gives me a heart attack nearly everyday) -- but i wonder if it's in no small part because we are constantly playing music in the kitchen. lately it's a lot of sufjan and they might be giants' abc & 123s.

Joslyn, I am so excited that a Trader Joes is opening right across the way!! Miss them so much from when I lived in San Diego.

Anthology sounds like a super magazine!

Do come and enter my Artful Offering!

I am such an ardent fan of that sea salt chocolate!

Making me happy right now is the smell of the steel cut oats toasted in coconut oil that are soaking on the stove for breakfast tomorrow. Whoa YUMMY SMELL.

I love Cake too! Did you hear the interview with John McCrea in NPR? He is awesome, especially because after he retires from the music business (hopefully not anytime soon) he wants to be a farmer...Love him! Have a happy weekend.

you touched on my two current fave foods :) the grapefruits at this time of year are to DIE FOR and that chocolate. oh, that is my very favourite chocolate bar right now, i'm hard-pressed to leave the grocery store without two of them, at least.

I'm a print freak too and just drove to 2 different Anthropologies to get Anthology. They didn't even know they carried it!

Now just waiting for another rainy PDX afternoon to read and enjoy. Thanks for posting so many beautiful photos and ideas.
