A Few Random Bits (On a Rainy Friday...)

image via la in bloom

First up, this movie, which is making me want to play hooky from work this afternoon so I can go see it (sorry boss), but I won’t. It looks visually stunning and dreamy and, well, there’s just something sort of perfect about hunkering down in a movie theater on a rainy day, no?

Next, this book (via joy), which, based on its cover (yes, I realize, this is dangerous...judging a book by its cover and all) looks fantastic. That marbleized paper banner alone has me convinced there’ll be loads of goodness inside. Can’t wait to get my hands on it to find out for sure…

And finally, (and speaking of paper) these paper dolls, which were an incredibly lovely and kind gift from the talented Hannah of Lily and Thistle.

She offered to send personalized sets to the girlies, and friends, they are quite possibly the sweetest paper dolls I’ve encountered (+ the girls had a blast playing with them.) I’m planning to get these for all the little girls on our Christmas list this year. (Yes I’m already thinking about Christmas shopping {I know, I know} maybe I’ll just blame it on the rainy weather…)

Happy Friday… Have a splendid weekend friends!

p.s. don’t forget about the handmade doll giveaway

This jumpsuit -- If I were someone that could pull-off a jumpsuit (and let me assure you, I am not), I can say with 100% certainty that I would be saving all my pennies for this number. It's beautiful...a beautiful jumpsuit friends. I really never thought I'd write the words "beautiful" + "jumpsuit" in the same sentence. I'm just sayin.

Katie Todd's really lovely paintings...

The fantastic vignettes in this d*s sneak peek. Little spots of perfection in every corner, no? (+ more loveliness from ingalls photography -- owners of the house in the sneak peek...)

Patka's metallic clutch goodness...

The mugs that just might break me of my inability to buy anything but white dishes. I want to drink my coffee out of one of these beauties every. single. morning... Truth be told it's kind of throwing me off a bit (I'm awfully loyal to white dishes.)

DwellStudio's insanely gorgeous new collection... It's been oft-blogged, but for good reason, no? It's just freakin amazing.

The serious cuteness of Roxy Marj's illustrations (totally smitten with her blog too...)

Jill Bent's pillows (love her simple, sparse aesthethic...perfection.)

This banner (for obvious reasons) spotted via the sweet life...

As an aside, an update on "the blues"... Thank you for all your ideas and your wisdom. I'm planning to implement many of your suggestions this week and specifically have a dance party with the girlies on the docket for this evening and a movie date with Bryan later this week. But most of all I'm going to do a bit of nothing for a while, as I think maybe what I need most of all is a little break from trying to accomplish too much and the inevitable let down when it all doesn't turn out the way I want it to...

A bit of a ramble, sorry. So just thanks and on to more lovely photos.

This Tom Sheerer room... a bit more ornate than I typically go for, but I'm totally smitten with the mix of modern and earthy and glam. Pretty much a perfect combo in my opinion.

Our soon-to-be table... I haven't blogged about this yet, but we (and by we, I actually mean Bryan) are starting work on our dining room table... Yes, this means Millie's bed is on hold for a smidge, but we'll get there + I'm still agonizing over that darn wallpaper, so there's plenty to do.

This is the wood that Bryan sourced from upstate NY. It's black walnut, it's HUGE and it's incredibly lovely. The plan is to have the new table done by Thanksgiving, as we're hosting this year...

Nina’s totally gorgeous hand painted plates … I’m loving her work.

This necklace from Anthro... Bryan if you need anniversary ideas, this might just be the ticket.

This color palette (room by cy design via d*s), which makes me want to switch out my white duvet cover, and that's HUGE, as I've had a white duvet cover for hmm...well, a decade.

Talc's ridiculously cute kid's clothes (via see saw designs) I mean so cute it isn't even fair...

Pretty much everything from Linea Carta -- the napkins, the tea towels, the fabric calendar...all of it. But I'm especially partial to these slouchy bags. Perfection.

Sarah Pinto's planners and notebooks. Especially loving the horseshoe and the skull and crossbones. Cute, cool + she uses recycled paper and soy based ink. Oh and a portion of her sales go to California Pacific Medical Center Pediatric Cardiology... Nice.

And speaking of notebooks, how cool are lovely cousin erin's sketches. I'm totally digging her peacock.

Wren Handmade's paper garlands...I'm a total sucker for all manner of garland, bunting, etc... Audrey's lovely little friends Miette and Amelie gave her a rockin bunting for her birthday. I'll share a photo tomorrow. It's so sweet...

Patrick Townsend's White Orbit Chandelier (via Jeana.) I'd like to replace the giant drum shade over my dining room table with this. Anyone in the Dallas area interested in buying a giant drum shade ;-)

Audrey and I are addicted to the image creator on Moomah's site. After reading about it on Smaller*, we're also quite obsessed with Moomah in general and plan on making a pilgrimage to NYC just to go there (more on that later...)

* speaking of Smaller, I'm guest blogging over there for the next few days. Take a peek!

This gorgeous, giant green cabochon ring. I want. it. bad.

Flora's lovely collages... I love all her work, but currently can't get this one out of my head. + she's having a sale right now, so snap one up!

This photo of Millie + Me sent over by my friend Stacy...Pretty much captures Millie's current favorite state -- donning just a diaper and a face full of brownie crumbs. I'm so smitten with that kid.

Fiona Paxton's crazy gorgeous necklaces...

The Lisa Mayock profile on Refinery 29. She's one half of Vena Cava (which I would wear every single day if I could afford to). Loving the new Vena Cava blog too...
