Some Scenes From The Weekend...

The weekend allowed for all manner of gratitude professing... There was a cozy evening with the girlies on Friday, two lovely holiday parties on Saturday, brunch with our friends Tracy and Van on Sunday, Bryan's amazing white bean chicken chili on Sunday. Heck, even washing 125 dishes (but who's counting) over two days (yep, the dishwasher is still broken) felt downright meditative.

Yes friends, after weeks of feeling harried, surly, and occasionally crazy, I have found my zen in a bottle of Seventh Generation Lemongrass and Clementine Zest dish soap (I freakin love that stuff)...

Who knew it would be so easy? ;-)

As someone who never had a dishwasher until this August, I can attest to the need for a zen approach to dishwashing. And this year I was thankful for the dishwasher on Thanksgiving!

My eight year old son loves anything with Lemongrass will have to try the dish soap again. Is there a source for the white chicken chili?

Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh writes,
“To my mind, the idea that doing dishes is unpleasant can occur only when you aren’t doing them. Once you are standing in front of the sink with your sleeves rolled up and your hands in the warm water, it is really quite pleasant. I enjoy taking my time with each dish, being fully aware of the dish, the water, and each movement of my hands. I know that if I hurry in order to eat dessert sooner, the time of washing dishes will be unpleasant and not worth living. That would be a pity, for each minute, each second of life is a miracle. The dishes themselves and that fact that I am here washing them are miracles!”

Our dishwasher is broken too, and I have also found washing dishes to be somewhat therapeutic... Now I need that dish soap!

Try the pear & ginger Method dish soap. So yummy I want to eat it! See the marble fruit bowl that was on your wish list? Yours?
