Take Art to Heart with Minted.Com

You know of my love for a good gallery wall friends... Currently I have one in my den, one in the guest room, another wall-o-art in Audrey's bedroom, and a happy little grouping in the girlies' bathroom. (Maybe I need a gallery wall intervention?) And I'm always on the lookout for new pieces to throw into the mix -- I like to keep it fresh -- so when Minted.com approached Erin, Caitlin, and me to work with them on a fun "art wall" project I was all in. Full stop.

The three of us brainstormed a bit about the elements of a perfect gallery wall and came to the consensus that a really good one needs an element of surprise. Something you wouldn't necessarily normally pick on your own if you will...

Enter "Operation Husband."

We decided to let our poor, "otherwise left out of any and all design decisions" (wait, maybe that's just me) husbands get in on the action by allowing them to pick the first piece of art from Minted.com and then we'd each build a gallery wall around their selections tailored to the individual characteristics of our homes (Caitlin lives in a studio, Erin in a loft, and I'm in a house).

I'm not going to lie, I was a smidge shaky about the hubby picking part. Don't get me wrong, Bryan has great taste (you do babe!), but it's just not, well, my taste... (And I'm a control freak, so there's that too.) But I never should have doubted the sweet guy, as he hit it out of the park with a giant print (it's huge friends) of Koshi's B&W 1. Here's the lowdown on Koshi per Minted:

"I grew up in Hawaii and have since come to call San Francisco home. I'm fan of mid-century American art and Americana, and have a soft spot for pop-culture. I'm fascinated by the analog/digital divide and pull from the past with a modern sensibility. Like patterns in nature, this work speaks to the idea of controlled chaos. Density, form, and volume emerge from a chiaroscuro of dotted lines."

I dig this Koshi dude.

I picked four additional prints inspired by the Koshi, and now CaitlinErin, and I are working on getting all of our art placed in our homes. We'll be back to show you how things played out after the Thanksgiving holiday. Stay tuned...

That's really cool that you were invited to create the art wall. I like this Koshi dude too. And your husband does have good taste. Can't wait to see the pics.

Joslyn - I guess I'm only about a year late, but I had no idea this went by until someone sent this to me. Thanks for the kind words!
