Some Scenes From The Weekend...

(Scenes from inside a house, as that's where we stayed...the entire weekend.)

We were a house-o-sick again this weekend. This time sweet Millie was the victim, getting hit with a stomach bug that had her turned upside down for the better part of Saturday and Sunday. And then there was aftermath of all this stomach bug action (i.e. washing every sheet/blanket/duvet cover/pillowcase/pillow in the entire house and disinfecting every last surface). The upside is that I currently have an extremely clean house.

The other upside was the two full days of undivided attention I gave the Millster. You just can't care for an extremely sick (and really upset) five year old while absentmindedly answering e-mail on your iPhone. It's not possible. And yes, I realize that it's shameful that it takes my child's falling ill with a raging stomach virus to get me into a drop everything, wholly attentive state, but rather than beat myself up, I'm going to use it as a little wake up call. A sort of reboot if you will.

Do you guys struggle with this -- this short attention span, ADD state that has you unable to really focus on your littles (or your love or your friends)? I have a hunch that I'm not the only one (or maybe I'm just trying to make myself feel better about this less than flattering state).

But admittance is the first step. Let the reboot begin.

I hope Miss Millie is feeling better today. It's never fun to get sick before the holidays. Give her a hug from me. I can't wait to see you guys in a week and a half! xx

I think it's more like an ongoing series of little adjustments. You get consumed by work, a project, a hobby, and then you need to refocus on the other things that matter. (That's how you paddle a canoe, by the way - the person steering makes little adjustments with a stroke called the J stroke every so often to keep the canoe on track!)

Love your necklace, and super nostalgic of your Nat Geo magazine collection! We used to have so many growing up, but I not longer do.

Hope Millie is better, but yes we all struggle with trying to manage it all but recognition is the first step to recovery so you are headed in the right direction. Enjoy your Turkey day
