Some Scenes From The Weekend

Bryan and Audrey were off on a father/daughter camping trip this weekend, so I was flying solo with the Millster, and we took full advantage. We hit the museum, did a couple of little art projects, swam, partook in epic cuddling/chatting/reading sessions, picked our little bounty of tomatoes, and hit (the utterly genius) Chicken Scratch with friends for dinner, twister, and just general merriment. Suffice to say, it was a blissed out two days with my little.

Once B and A were back from their adventures in the wild on Sunday, we joined up with friends and took in a minor league baseball game, which was a huge success. The weekend was busy but somehow relaxing too. This is the first Monday in a while that I feel fully ready for the week ahead (which is a good thing, as it's going to be a busy one). I'm not harried or out of sorts. I feel balanced.

I think some of that stems from my two days of concentrated one-on-one time with Millie...we got to connect in a way that just isn't possible when the four of us are together. I didn't feel pulled in a million directions (or guilty about anything!!). I felt totally and completely present. I can sense a difference in all of us when we partake in these little spurts of broken-up togetherness with the girls...and when we do reconvene, everyone seems refreshed, recharged from the attention, more secure even. It's a good practice for sure.

Hope your weekend was splendid!

i'm about to embark on 4 days of solo time w/ my little one... & this is exactly why i am so excited for it. (something we know is such a GOOD thing, but don't do often enough... many things fall into that category, come to think of it :)).

Sounds like a fantastic weekend! I can totally relate to what you are saying about finding that balance and having one on one time that is present with your kids. Thanks for sharing. I have 2 little girls (4 and 9 months) and I really find your blog inspiring and helpful!!
