On Being Excited

I get excited. A lot. I can't tamp it down (although I've been told on more than one occasion that I should). I am happy, enthusiastic, upbeat...

All of this, in theory, is good, I mean there's an entire genre of books aimed at upping ones happiness quotient, and yet, being perky isn't the most revered of qualities. It's seems more respectable, cooler even, to be harried, cynical, sardonic.

I'm holding firm though. I don't mind being uncool...being cool is overrated. I'm not afraid to walk out of situation that was magical/fun/interesting and be excited about it (really, really excited). I'm good with that.

Over the past two days, I've had the opportunity to sit down and chat with a design icon, have dinner in quite possibly the most stunning, soulful home I've ever encountered (above), and share lunch with a wholly inspiring and talented woman. It was a good two days.

I am (really really) excited.

I'm the same way. I'm a big ol' dork and I revel in it. Life's too short not to be excited. :)

yeah, you should be excited!! Always good to have 2 good days in a row :)
I am happy and perky all the time, it drives my boss (aka the ice queen) crazy! She eve pulled me aside before a meeting once to tell me that I am not aloud to smile or giggle in the meeting and that I needed to speak with the other designer and tell her she couldn't either. Well, the client was cracking jokes and making funny comments, how could we not it was really hard to be like her. SOOOOO I decided, to heck with it, I am going to be ME! happy go lucky girl! So, if i see a pony walking along the side walk, that squealing you hear is me squealing with all delight!!

to being happy!!

YES! Miya and I have been discussing this very thing. A sardonic remark here and there can be a part of witty conversation, but sarcasm isn't really a life choice, at least not a happy one. I don't buy into the notion that happiness and enthusiasm are uncool.

yes! most of my life i've been hiding my enthusiasm and general passion to fit in, but in the blogging circles i follow, people tend to try hard and get excited, and i love that. glad you're one of those, too! :)

I cheer your good cheer & excitement. The best times in life are when we're excited about what we're doing. Snarky & sarcastic are totally uncool. Cheerful & exuberant the best of cool. Keep it up girl!
