Sorting Through the Muchness -- November Edition

images clockwise from top: rings via catbird/feist via last.fm/burning papers via lafco/bill cunningham via zeitgeist films

It's time again to "sort through the muchness"...to mull over the multitude of images and media and, well... stuff that I encountered in the past month and identify what "stuck", what I can't get out of my head.

Here's what made the cut for November:

The Stack -- After seeing Jen's stack, I'm totally fixated on creating one of my own over time. The look of several delicate bands combined is lovely in and of itself, but what makes the whole "stack" enterprise so appealing to me is its highly personal, collected nature. I love the idea that each ring represents a moment or milestone in your life... The fact that, combined, they create a sort of wearable history is just really lovely to me.

Feist -- Specifically Feist in concert. Bryan took me to see her in early November as a belated anniversary gift, and it was (not to be dramatic) transcendent. Her voice, her stage presence, her sort of self-depreciating sense of humor (she is seriously funny)...all perfection.

Santa Maria Novella Burning Papers and Incense -- I walked into my friend Kristie's house a few week's ago to what can only be described as a wholly magical smell. She told me it was this action from Santa Maria Novella. It is goodness friends. Big time.

Bill Cunningham -- *sigh*... Watch the documentary. Just do it. You will be just as smitten. I assure you.

Have a fantastic weekend friends!

I love the stackable rings. I think once we have kids I'll do that, one ring for each child :)

I love Feist. And the rings. You find the best stuff. Now I think I need that incense....

Loved Cunningham, I know I already gushed about it here though. Also love Feist and the idea of making your own stack. What's new and highly intriguing to me are these burning papers. Onto the christmas list they go!

The Cunningham doc was mindblowing. Even thinking about the speech he gave in France is making me tear up. Makes me want to live a more colorful life.

Okay - Cunningham doc at the top of my must list this weekend...
re SMN burning papers - I used to buy them at Gardens in Austin...did you ever shop there? That was one of all time favorite places...

michelle -- gardens was my favorite store in austin hands down (but the fact that we love the same store really isn't a surprise, yes?)

I'm so sad it's not there anymore...

Just watched Cunningham, so wonderful and affirming. Sad that he really is one in a million and so many others are in thrall to celebrity and money...

I love the stacking idea too. I always admire little rings like that. My problem is that my wedding ring is just one single thin band and I don't want to upstage it!
Also adored the Bill Cunningham documentary. My husband and I watched it recently and both were completely compelled and smitten.

I just realized that I can watch the Bill Cunningham doc instantly on Netlix. Yay! Glad I kept that subscription after all. I do believe I now know my evening plans...

I was equally as smitten by the documentary of Bill Cunningham... I had no idea about his incredible character, dedication, and integrity!! His undeniable humility was also very humbling. By the end, I was left completely struck by his profound story!
