Scenes from The Weekend...

Really the best dad two lucky girlies could ever dream of having...

Trying out red lipstick again...but opting for a mellower gloss this time, as the matte red was throwing me for a bit of a loop.

A preview of the changes happening in the breakfast room as a result of the Marcel Breuer chairs...new paint, new curtains. Full before-and-after coming soon.

The weekend consisted of a festive gathering, a hugely inspiring gallery show, some celebrating the dads, more house “re-assembling", and a lot of swimming.

On Saturday, Bryan and I managed to eek out a pretty swell date night. We kicked things off with the opening reception for Jonathan Cross' show, Formation, brilliantly curated by our dear friend, Lucia. Jonathan's ceramics are so interesting and unique; each pot is a like a little piece of wholly inspired of architecture. But the impact of seeing 70 of his small pots lined up in two perfect rows... it was pretty spectacular.

After the reception, we made our way to Ft. Worth to attend an incredibly fun (and swank) party. I can't reveal too many details, as there's a story about it in the works for a new local online magazine, but I can say we had an incredible time. A few details I can share: the house where the party was thrown was a gorgeous, perfectly restored mid-century gem, I was sporting major red lipstick as part of my "costume", and it's possible that I may have consumed one too many French 75s, which had me feeling a bit like I had been, well...run over by a freight train the next day. But I'm not saying for sure.

Sunday was all about celebrating the dads...lunch with Bob and then a mellow afternoon hanging out with Bryan (really the best. dad. ever.) and the girlies, including a big dinner of Mexican food, at one of our favorite spots, followed by frozen custard. The only thing missing from the day was my dad. I wish we could have somehow transported him in from California for the afternoon...He is an awful big fan of good Tex-Mex. We love you dad!

In between all of this we swam (it was hot this weekend, making us immensely grateful for that magical pool), and I worked on a couple of house projects, namely some fun changes in the breakfast room and a new big bed in Millie's room for the girlies to share, requiring a bit of a change-up in there too. (After their stint on the air mattress, they couldn't give up sleeping together. Even after their bedrooms were inhabitable again, they made us drag that air mattress to the back of the house and continued sleeping on it on the floor. Sweet, yes?) I'll share pics of both rooms soon.

Hope you guys have a mellow, lovely, rejuvenating weekend!

Love the red lip on you. I ventured into fuchsia, which was pretty huge for me, and I actually love it. You can check it out here:

I have a photo of me in the fuchsia lipstick on the post I linked above, here it is again:

as you can tell from the swatches underneath it's actually much bluer than it looks in the photo, but I think you get the idea.

Thanks for your comment!

Ha! I just laughed out loud at your comment that you thought that was a photo of a model! Wow, thank you so much! I'm sort of new to my blog, and still a little camera shy, so I'm usually hiding behind it and was kind of nervous to put even half my face out there for the world to see! Anyway, thanks for the compliment, and thanks again for checking out my blog. I love yours and read it daily, so it means a lot to me!

You must be loving that pool! I hear it's been a scorcher this summer...
Love the red lip you've been rockin (Nars Gypsy is another good one - a little bit sheer, from one former makeup counter girl to another)
