Blogger's Favorites -- Allison of Petit Elefant

I'm rather fond of Allison.

We met at Alt earlier this year (I met so many fantastic ladies at Alt), and I was immediately struck by how fun she was. She's the girl you want to go out dancing with...the one that will always come up with the most spontaneous, wild, interesting thing to do, the one that will force the otherwise slightly boring girl that wants to go to bed at 9:30 (me) to live a little.

She's also funny, witty, kind and incredibly lovely...so there's all that too. Without further ado, herewith Allison's favorites. Enjoy!

Thanks for having me on Simple Lovely, I love this blog. The words simple and lovely all on their own are pretty great but you add them together, throw Joslyn in the mix, and boom, it's a thing of beauty.

I don't honestly have anything that's better than my family. My son and daughter are two of the greatest things that have ever happened to me. Period. They make my heart sing.

  • My Converse. A good pair of Converse thrown together with the right jeans and tee? Heaven.

  • Reuben, our horse. I love him for being gentle with my children, for teaching my daughter responsibility, for being beautiful and intelligent, and for fulfilling my childhood dream of owning a horse.

  • I love my desk. It's such a great place to sit and work because it's at the center of my household so I can work amidst the chaos that is motherhood, dinner, laundry, and children underfoot. The desk is beautiful all on its own, but the mix of thrift store pieces and new framed photos of my children make me happy.

  • My husband. Aside from the two children he gave me, he is my favorite creature on God's green earth. He has marvelous eyes, a killer sense of humor, and takes care of me in a way no one ever has. I treasure him.

  • Michelle Obama. I love everything about her. I love the kind of mother she is, the kind of first lady she's become, the agendas she's passionate about, and most of all, I love her style. She's fabulous to watch. (image via New York Magazine)

  • I love beautiful perfume. I've been wearing it steadily since the 7th grade when my mother bought me Exclamation!, though my tastes have evolved a bit since then. My current favorite is this bottle of Alabaster from Banana Republic. The bottle all on it's own is stunning but the smell, oh the smell.

  • Fashion. I adore everything about it, especially when there's something really beautiful going on. Oscar fashion is especially enjoyable to me, the red carpet being my version of the Super Bowl. I adore this dress. (image via here)

  • Great shoes are my favorite. I know I already listed my Converse, but those are practical shoes. These Steve Madden's aren't so much practical as they are a completely stunning work of art. I love these so much it hurts.
