Scenes from The Weekend

The weekend was lovely and busy and pretty delightful... (Right up until I crashed on Sunday with a not so lovely or delightful sinus infection, but that's no fun to post about, right?)

So I'll keep it to the fun stuff like family day at Audrey's ballet school...seriously what's sweeter than a slew of six-year old ballerinas. Then there was my dear friend Tiffany's birthday celebration Saturday night -- her hubby impeccably planned a "progressive evening" with drinks at one location, dinner at another (we arrived at the restaurant to a table laden with the most beautiful sushi ready for us to dig in) and finally dessert at the top of a swanky hotel overlooking the city. He even arranged transportation and group babysitting for all the kiddos. It was a perfect worry-free "grown-up" evening.

Sunday, while I was passed out on the couch nursing my illness (I know, I know, I promised we wouldn't talk about it), the girlies spent the day painting. Audrey helped finish up her class project for the upcoming school auction -- a little kindergarten cubism.

Hope your weekend was fantastic!

I am working on my school's auction class project, too. Can you describe how this one was done? It looks really cool! Thanks!

Feel free to mention the sinus infection because then those of us who were sick AND up with a sick kiddo all night during the weekend will feel like we aren't alone and that we too will survive. :)

kalincut -- Oooh sick + a sick kiddo…that’s the worst! But if it makes you feel better, I still feel like crud.

NYGregor -- For the auction project, I showed the class a few different paintings and let them vote for the one they wanted to “recreate.” (They got to pick from Starry Night, Goldfish and Three Musicians.)

After they voted, we used our projector to trace the painting on the canvas with a sharpie and then the kids filled in the areas with paint. For some spots, we taped off where they needed to paint to keep things neat.

All in all pretty easy and fun!

I would have that first photo in a frame faster than you can say frame! I love the little pop of pink on the right side.

Oh please frame that!

You make me ache for a little girl. ACHE.

Joslyn, what gorgeous pictures of the ballerinas.

And, if you get an extra minute (I know, what such thing?!) would you mind emailing me about that incredible picture Audrey made?? I'm always looking for new art lessons and that is stunning!

Thanks!
