Scenes from The (Possibly Overscheduled) Week-End

We kicked off the week-end with the (v. fun) party at Little Bean on Friday. Audrey and I went together, and she managed to consume what might possibly be an illegeal quantity of mini cupcakes... I'm just sayin.

(Amy, I snapped this one for you. Look at your lovely goods front and center!)

After the party we had dinner with our friends Julie and Tim, which would have been perfect if Audrey hadn't been going out of her mind a bit due to the aforementioned cupcake consumption.

Then Saturday afternoon we made our way out of town a bit for an annual party at one of Audrey's former classmates' house in the "woods"... It was the perfect setting for this time of year -- the kids ran around, roasted s'mores and just generally had a blast with their buddies.

We finished up the weekend with a little neighborhood get together and a lovely Sunday dinner + I managed to make a couple of apple, cranberry pies.

So all-in-all a fantastic weekend, if not a little full. I find myself lately cramming so much (maybe too much) into our weekends (my hubby will be so proud of me for actually admitting this, as it's not something I'm wont to do) that Monday morning we all wake up feeling a bit, well... spent.

It's hard for me to say "no." I love having lots of fun things lined up. I'm not so good at the "relaxing."

I need to work on this a bit I think...

hehehe, not good at relaxing hey? Well, you just recharge by hanging with people and sharing experiences, there is no shame in that!

Sounds like fun though! I think it's the weather a bit...we've been trying to get so much in while it's nice!

I must admit that we usually have a calendar full of fun (and sometimes double-booked), but this weekend, we said no. Phew, that was hard to do, but it was worth it. Lounging and just doing whatever we wished at a moment's notice left me feeling refreshed and revived this morning!

I know what you mean. We're heading into summer here (Sydney, Australia) and add to that the upcoming Xmas season and end of school year (in our case preschool) activities and I feel exhausted on Monday mornings, not refreshed!!

Love the lights in the trees. I'm a long time reader but first time commenter. Your site is where I look for inspiration nearly everday!

Please feel free to look at my new blog:

My sisters and I write about history of small towns in America and everything in the towns that make them charming.

You're lucky to have so much going on that you can be overscheduled! Popular! And yet, I understand the exhaustion. Saying no/having fewer plans is a skill I am still developing. Good luck...

Some people might feel like weekends shouldn't be crowded with events, but I think when you look back in a few years, you'll be happy you spent that time with friends. It is too often that people don't get together with friends even though they are near by. I think spending as much time with the people you care about is one of the best ways to live. :)

I rarely cram my weekend jammed pack...It makes me unhappy and tired on Monday morning when I feel like I didn't really get a good break from being busy. I need at least half a day, maybe two half days even, where I've got NOTHING planned. But if it's beyond that amount of time, I feel really lazy and unappreciative.

I LOVE that knitted(maybe?) dress or jacket or whatever--very cute!!
