Scenes from the Weekend -- The Party...

The calm before the storm...

As promised, here are a few details from Audrey's soiree... Since the party was co-ed and a mix of old and new school friends + family friends, we kept the activities and food simple -- we got an Alice in Wonderland bounce house (man kids go nuts for bounce houses, no?), and I just served cupcakes and a few snacks like pretzels and goldfish plus loads of water and some fun grown-up drinks for the parents.

So most of the work went into the decorations… Lovely cousin Erin helped me create a “chandelier” from white Chinese lanterns, red tissue balls and garland that I made from red adhesive dots, red wooden beads and red heart playing cards. Inspired by this post on frolic, I used leftover wallpaper from our laundry room project and made a table runner, filling the "frames" with copies of pages from an old Alice in Wonderland book. For the cupcakes, I used red stripe liners and red heart candy sprinkles from cupcake social, and Bryan made the fun toppers. And finally, we gave little burlap bags stamped with a heart crest and filled with assorted red candies + a small Alice in Wonderland sticker/activity book as favors.

I was so happy with how everything turned out, and (most important) Audrey totally dug it!

Oh my gosh, Joslyn! I LOVE it so much. It's straight out of a Roland Bello photoshoot. Your wallpaper runner is SO much hipper than mine!

Plus, it looks like all the kids are actually having fun!!

So fun! I love the old-time illustrations, and red is always such a welcome pop of color for a party. Also, I'm really diggin' that wallpaper runner!

No kidding. How can you top that for a 6 year old birthday party. The kids all looked as though they had a wonderful time. Hope there was a glass of wine for mom and dad after the king and queen of hearts went home and Alice went to sleep.

My, but doesn't this look like it was a fabulous soiree for the little ones {and parents too}. So pretty!
