Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Day Three

One of the necklaces I’m looking at this year for rounding out the holiday wardrobe. I also like this one and this one...both from j crew...

I was glancing through my past posts last night trying to decide what to “re-post” today and upon selecting this one, I instantly thought, wow I’m going with this exact same strategy for holiday dressing this year…

So it appears I’m not only a smidge uninspired, but I’m also a little boring, or perhaps just incredibly consistent. ;-)

And for your reading pleasure, last year’s post…

Making it Work (originally posted November, 19 2007)

I tore through my closet this weekend in an attempt to make sense of the chaos it’s become since having Millie. The rods were jammed with "transitional" clothes of varying sizes, of which I actually like and end up wearing very few.

But the purging was mostly spurred by a recent trip to Target where I snapped up a shoddily made, sparkly black top only to get home and realize that there were several similar ones crammed into my closet -- that I never wear. (Truth be told, I also discovered that I own 28 black tops…but that’s another post altogether or a trip to the therapist.)

I made good work of it, passing several items to lovely cousin Erin and pulling together big bags of clothes for my Mom, sisters and the women’s shelter. I also brought a couple dozen items to the tailor. This proved the most fruitious task of the entire exercise, as with a few tweaks to the waistband, hips or hemline, I basically have a new wardrobe.

Now that I have a closetful of things that fit and I (mostly) like, I’m supplementing with a couple of festive accessories to dress things up for the holidays -- like one of these necklaces from Banana…perfect with one of my existing 28 black tops, yes?

I’m on my way to recovery.

Love the bottom necklass Jos. I am blessed with my lovely Mia home today(strep). We are watching all the high school musicals back to back. Fun...(totally sarcastic tone!). I can't work with them at home! Save me from my children.

There is nothing better than a purge. Whenever I am having trouble writing or working, I clean and organize something. Works every time.

And with regards to clothing, I find that when I pare down, shortly after, I'll discover the one piece of clothing that makes my whole season.

I came across your site through Melissa Loves' blog.

Lovely necklaces! I'm so inspired to try and make something similar to them. :-)

Domino recently came up with an article on pruning & tweaking your wardrobe via "The Adventuress" section. You might want to try looking it up online for some more ideas.
