Support for Nie Nie

image via bkids

A couple of weeks ago Bryan and I were discussing how it seems particularity in vogue of late to complain about your spouse, your family, the mundane tasks of everyday life…Rarely do we hear anyone (ourselves included) say that things are going great, they’re feeling great, the kiddos are great, rather it’s more often a litany of slightly comical complaints…

Stephanie Neilson’s inspirational blog the Nie Nie Dialogues is a regular read for me. I love that despite leading a life that could be perfect fodder for this kind of complaining (she’s a stay at home mother to 4 young children), her daily posts are a love song -- to her husband, her children, motherhood, faith, homemaking...

It’s refreshing and lovely.

So I was devastated when I read of Stephanie and her husband Christian’s tragic accident… There’s a lot of love and activity happening on the blogosphere to support the Nielsons as they battle through this. In fact, today has been coined Nie Nie day by the brilliant and amazing Design Mom, and she’s leading the charge by organizing a slew of auctions to benefit the Nielson family. I’m especially smitten with Jordan’s offerings -- a commissioned oil paining by her amazingly talented hubby Paul and some of her brilliant custom invites.

I totally agree with you on the fact that people almost disdain hearing about how life is good/great/fabulous! I feel sad when I realize that conversations are most "satisfying" when someone else is faltering or frustrating!

Also, what an inspiring post about surrounding and supporting these fellow bloggers in their personal hardship! This was a great post! Thank you!

Nice post - it's amazing how often we all fall into that trap of complaining about the everyday things. Especially when so many of those everyday things are exactly what we should be thankful for. The energy in the blog world is amazing today - I'm happy to be a part of it.

Thanks for posting this. It reminds me that even though my husband was less than perfect today, he's in one piece, healthy, sweet and perfect in most every other way.
