Saturday at the Museum(s)

Saturday turned out to be a bit of an "art-fest" After the Kara Walker exhibit we strolled through the permanent exhibit at The Modern and then walked next door to The Kimbell and saw The Impressionists Exhibit in town from the Art Institute of Chicago. I'm not sure I've ever seen so much art in a single day, much less two back-to-back exhibits that were more opposite in theme, style etc... It was pretty wild.

All that art viewing left very little time for a proper grown-up meal, so we ended up at one of our favorite (but highly kid-friendly) Mexican restaurants... Rest assured, the thrill of having some (rare) uninterrupted adult conversation outweighed any number of pinatas strung from the ceiling gently mocking us during our leisurely lunch.

Highlights (both high-brow and shallow):
  1. A Luke + Owen Wilson sighting at The Modern

  2. Getting to visit my two of my all-time favorite paintings at the Kimbell (by Mondrian and de Goya respectively...)

What a great day, Jos! And I love your two favorites. So different, too!

I'm fascinated by mixing and living with radically different styles in your home. Imagine incorporating both of those pieces into your house?!

Wow, sounds like the perfect day...sigh. Nice dress too, I tried that on (so cute!) but it didn't look so cute on me.

Joslyn-

This sounds like a beautiful day. I am impressed that you were able to look at anything after the kaara Walker. When i saw it in New York after Christmas I was so stimulated visually that I couldn't even look at the rest of the Whitney!

Congrats on your Wilson viewing- I wouldn't have been able to muster the courage to take a picture, so no worries on just letting us imagine it.
