A Little Homage

Like you, I am completely bummed about the demise of Domino... It was by far one of my favorite mags. My mourning process has been to start lovingly leafing through old copies to ogle my favorite spreads... My all-time favorite "home tour" is Ione Skye's from the first Domino (she's also one of my major girl crushes.) I love her groovy hanging wicker chair, her record collection, her fireplace.... But architect Will Meyer's house in upstate NY is a very close second.

What was your favorite?

Both environments are so fresh and beautiful! Lots of natural sunlight!

I feel very sad about Domino. I need to go make sure I buy their last two!

Argh! First, Blueprint. Now Domino and I just heard (in a different vein) Wondertime!? I can't stand it.
I loved their focus on deep dark walls. I can't imagine doing it since we have so few windows already, but wow, they looked awesome in print. Now I'm sorry I gave all my back issues away to the hospital!

okay so that wicker hanging chair keeps popping up! I want that!! In our new bedroom somewhere. Do you know where to get one for less than what THAT ONE most likely is?!!

Ooo Ahh. I could live a very aesthetically content life in any and all. I have never read Domino (I'm an Australian living in Vietnam)but will miss all the gorgeous pics you post from it Joslyn. Perhaps its time for 'the best from Domino'??...if only just for me....

I loved Amanda Peet's house. I'd move into that in a second -- and wouldn't feel the need to change a single thing.

This is a sad sad day.

My runner up was Matt Albiani... his mix of old and new was breathtaking.

have a great weekend!

I don't remember this first house tour that you've posted but it's fantastic. I'm not sure if I could pick a favorite but I really liked the Ruffalo's home from the most recent issue.

I'm glad you like the Rentals. They're so great.

I totally remember that home tour, and I fell in love with Domino with that very first issue. I think I even subscribed before it ever came out and waited for it! I am seriously sad about this - and afraid of what else we'll lose before this whole thing is over :-(

I think the rumors about Gourmet are based on the fact that the ad pages are down. My hope is that they've just been selective in the past and can open it up a little to make up the difference. We'll see what happens!

i heard a while back that domino was done, i don't think i even got a magazine from them last month and this week i got a magazine and i get a letter that says they have taken the liberty of extending a new subscription on credit and i will be billed... wtf?
