Ooh! A great list! I remember seeing those wooden animals in the most recent Elle Decoration UK and thinking they were perfect; so childishly endearing yet with such grown-up personality!
And I still remember all the mild french insults that I picked up reading Nicolas in high school. the illustrations in that book are classic.

My favourite is the soy candle - I seem to have a bit of an inclination towards things tied up with string...
Those bookends are way too cute. I know several people who would go nuts over them as a Christmas gift.
really? not a collectable girl?
no precious moments? no lladro? no...{incredulous gasp!} snow covered villages with tiny people milling 'round amid faux snow?!
and here i thought you had style.
{disclaimer: it's late, i have strep, lost my voice, and i'm hungry. and grumpy. but this cheered me up. xoxo!}
if you are close to an anthropologie, they have that nicholas book on sale for $7.95. unfortunately they don't have it listed on their website.
that soy candle looks pretty perfect.
We have the wooden elephant. It was my husbands when he was a boy and it has survived all sorts of traumas.
I want that wooden elephant!!!

thanks for the finds!
I have such a fascination with vintage, foreign, or otherwise interesting children's books. I want to fill a whole nursery with them someday!
