Night Swimming

Summertime in Texas makes you long for a pool -- it’s hot here. Last week our neighbors went on vacation and graciously offered us unlimited use of their pool, so every night after work we packed up the girls and trekked across the street for an evening swim. Don’t get me wrong, we definitely enjoyed floating around languidly listening to the cicadas, but then we’d get back to our house and realize as we were getting everyone ready for bed that our hair was like straw and our eyes were bleary and red from the chlorine.

If we’re experiencing this after only a few evenings, I can only imagine what would result from a full summer of swimming. So Sunday afternoon we went back to basics and dragged out the sprinkler. The picture says it all…guess we won’t be digging up the back yard anytime soon.
