The Warhol exhibit was better than I expected, but the Modern also has a fantastic permanent collection, and I was especially taken with Nicholas Nixon’s memorizing The Brown Sisters (below), a series of photographs taken yearly for the past 30+ years of his wife and her sisters. It inspired us to do something similar with our girls…it was a magical depiction of the progression of time.
While Saturday was a bit of a grown-up day, Sunday was all about the girlies. I clearly jinxed things with all my talk of lovely weather, and we had gloomy, grey rain all day… But it was a perfect excuse to hunker down with some movies and make homemade patty melts. So all-in-all good stuff. Hope your weekend was splendid.
A few more shots from the museum...
i love the idea of the brown sisters project. what a great tradition to start with best friends or a lover!
ReplyDeleteeverytime i type "lover" i think of SJP and her Petrovsky romance in season 6..

Looks like your museum visit was a bit more successful than mine! Fantastic pictures!
ReplyDeleteSeeing art quietly, by yourself, can be such a nice break!
ReplyDeleteI love The Modern! Sometimes it's nicer, though, to go to the museum by yourself, no distractions.
ReplyDeleteI've been reading for awhile but haven't really posted any comments. You have a lovely blog, and I like seeing familiar bits of my hometown!
I believe that I may be a bit jealous....smiles.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a nice time, you look adorable and love those shoes.
ReplyDeleteOh yes... definitely my kind of weekend. Exquisite!!

Oh a day at a museum sans kiddo sounds so lovely. Love the photos, I want to do that with my 3 sisters.
ReplyDeletelooks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI very nearly went to the Warhol show this weekend too. Instead we planted herbs and mulched up our garden. (a Saturday thing with the sun) Then Sunday, I curled up in front of a fire with all of my design books that I got for Christmas and hadn't properly looked at.
ReplyDeleteYou have inspired me. I am going to Warhol today. Wow, what great weather we are going to have in Dallas. 75.
OH man, I would love to see that Brown sisters exhibit.
